A Donor's Story

"I was first introduced to TAD Disability Services when I commenced working at The Canada Bay Club. One of my work colleagues processed all the applications for community funding grants sent to the Club for consideration. She had been very taken by the purpose of TAD and although a quiet achiever in the workplace, she was very vocal in her desire to see the Club support TAD over other equally noble causes.

In 2012 I decided I wanted to try and personally visit as many of the Club’s community grant recipients as possible. I was keen to hear firsthand, their compelling stories and see the positive impact our funding had on their operations. I was fortunate enough to be invited to TAD’s workshop base and I along with other visitors heard Alan speak. Of all the recipients I visited Alan’s words struck a chord with me.

In my spare time I am a cyclist and I ride about 10,000 kilometres per year. I ride for a host of reasons no least of which is the pure joy of the sun on my back and the wind in my face. I can’t help but smile. Cycling makes me a better father, husband, friend, and workmate. There is no doubt, cycling makes me a better man. It is an experience that every child should have access to. TAD’s Freedom Wheels program provides that experience. I am delighted to be in a position where I can make a meaningful contribution. Choosing to become a TAD Freedom Wheels donor has been very rewarding."
