“I just pop her on the bike and she takes herself everywhere riding around, laughing her head off. I am so proud.” Avalon's mum, Kristie.
TAD’s Freedom Wheels Bikes enable children with disabilities to ride a bike when it was never thought possible. Many of these children cannot walk but they can ride.
Freedom Wheels are designed to meet the individual needs of the client.
An assessment process is needed to ensure that the client receives a bike that is suited to their age, height, weight, physical and cognitive abilities.
Carers and therapists (or health care professionals) provide input that forms an important part of the assessment process. TAD holds regular bike clinics at TAD House in Northmead, and regular clinics in regional NSW.
Freedom Wheels offers a wide range of supports that can be either left on the bike or removed easily without tools for storage and transport. The individual requirements of each client will be determined at an individual assessment.
